It is made up of two separate funds aimed at farmers or landowners with different ambitions:
- Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) – for grants between £2,000 and £25,000. The FETF provides support to businesses so that they can invest in equipment and technology to improve sustainable agricultural, horticultural and forestry productivity. Applicants can apply for equipment from a pre-defined list over several rounds.
- Farming Transformation Fund (FTF) – for grants between £35,000 and £500,000. The FTF provides grants towards large capital items to help businesses improve productivity, profitability, and environmental sustainability. There are three themes to the FTF grant; Water Management, Improving Farm Productivity and Adding Value.

Regarding slurry infrastructure – News recently reviewed from Defra advised of a new slurry infrastructure theme to be offered under the Farming Investment Fund from Autumn 2022.
This remains in the development process however the advice at this stage is that it will contribute towards covered slurry store projects, enabling farmers to achieve 6 months storage capacity.
