COVERING THE NORTH OF ENGLAND - Call 01756 711686

The Slurry Infrastructure Grant will be open to applicants from the 6th December 2022

Grant information

The grant is available for slurry stores in England, to be used to improve or expand storage capacity to 6 months.

At present, both landowners and tenants can apply for the grant if you farm pigs, beef or dairy and produce slurry. It is not eligible to those who already have 6 months’ serviceable slurry storage.

The grant can pay for different types of slurry infrastructure, including; above-ground steel stores, precast circular/rectangle concrete stores, earth bank lagoons with/out synthetic liners and large volume supported slurry bags.

All new or expanded stores must be fit with an impermeable cover, unless you are installing a slurry bag or using acidification.

Also included within the grant are several slurry store accessories, including; reception pits, slurry transfer pumps, pipework, mixers and more.

The minimum grant you can apply for is £25,000, the maximum is £250,000.

How the grant works

The grant is designed in a 2-stage application process

Stage 1: Applicants should use the Slurry Wizard tool to help understand their current and future slurry storage requirements. Then, use the online checker to see if you’re eligible and check how much grant you might get. The online checker will be open from 06/12/22 – 31/01/23.

Stage 2: If you’re eligible and your project is prioritised due to its environmental benefits, you’ll be invited to make a full application.

The RPA expect demand to be high in round 1, meaning they will give priority to applications that offer the most environmental benefit, categorised into specific locations within England. Despite this, everyone who is interested is encouraged to complete stage 1 of the application. There will be other opportunities to apply if you are not selected in Round 1 of the grant.

The type of information needed in stage 1 includes; type of farmer, ownership status, details of current system, existing and planned storage capacity, type of store you want to build, expansion size, how big the cover will be.

Stage 2 expands on the information provided in the first stage, and further includes; drawings and maps, business information, project milestones, planning permission, evidence of financial viability.
