Obtaining planning consents for Agricultural development
Agricultural buildings can be the main component of a farmstead, allowing for a multitude of uses from livestock housing to machinery storage. At JA Agriculture we can assist you from planning right through to construction by drawing up plans, submitting applications and facilitating grant funding for the construction (if applicable).
Subject to conditions, agricultural buildings can be passed with permitted development, cutting out long waits for full planning permissions and allowing projects to be completed in a timely manner. In brief, if your farm is 5ha or more this means you have the right to: erect, extend or alter a building and carry out excavations and engineering operations needed for agricultural purposes, for any agricultural building below 1000m2 in size.
A recent project saw us draw up plans and see the project through to completion within 3 months, just in time to be used for livestock housing in the early lambing season. The images below show the plans submitted and the completed building.
If you are looking to erect an agricultural building at your holding, please send an initial enquiry to Amy at amy@jaagriculture.co.uk.
